Traffic Lane GrayCarpets, like any textile, will show wear over time. This wear can mimic the appearance of dirt, leading to misunderstandings between homeowners and carpet care professionals. It's important to note that cleaning a carpet might not always restore the look of high-traffic areas. These spots bear the brunt of constant footfall or activity, leading to what's known as "traffic lane gray." Unfortunately, there's limited action that carpet care experts can take to combat traffic lane gray. Cleaning a carpet that's seen a decade of use will yield a clean, but visibly aged, result. It may not look as revitalized as one might hope. To mitigate this wear, consider rearranging furniture to alter traffic patterns or introducing area rugs to distribute foot traffic more evenly.

Spot Removal TipsLife inevitably brings its share of spills, from minor dribbles to major mishaps. Before the next one lands on your carpet, take a moment to review these tips. They're your best ally for tackling stains swiftly. Plus, if your carpet is fortified with Nittany EcoDri’s Protectant, you're already a step ahead in the stain removal game. Act quickly: The sooner you address the stain, the less likely it is to become a permanent fixture. Identify the stain: Understanding the nature of the stain and the material it's on helps in selecting the appropriate cleaning solution. Remove excess: Gently blot, scrape, or brush away any excess from the stain. Avoid rubbing, which can embed the stain deeper. Test before cleaning: Always do a spot test on an inconspicuous area. Check for color transfer or discoloration after drying. Tackle from the outside in: Start cleaning from the stain's outer edge towards the center to prevent spreading. Seek professional help: If home efforts fall short, reach out to Nittany EcoDri for professional spot and stain removal services. Maintain protection: Consider having an EcoDri Professional reapply our Protector after each cleaning to enhance your carpet's resilience against future stains.

Oriental Rug Care TipsEvery area rug needs specific care to enhance its lifespan and durability. Remember to check the rug's fiber types and origins when you buy it, as this information will assist your EcoDri technician in creating a tailored cleaning strategy for its care. To protect your area rug, try to prevent spills. If one occurs, promptly blot up as much as possible with a dry white towel or a wet suction extractor. Be cautious with hot water, as it can harm certain carpet fibers — consult an EcoDri specialist for advice on managing spills on your particular rug. Protect your area rug with our specialty protection. Each formula is designed to match the needs of your carpet fibers to help minimize stains and make cleaning up spills easier. Avoid leaving an area rug in direct or partial sunlight, as fading may occur. Routinely clean your area rugs professionally.

Leather Care TipsVarious types of leather require different care processes Aniline - Also known as natural, pure, naked, or unprotected leather. Protected - Also known as finished semi-aniline, everyday, pigmented, and painted leather. Nubuck - Also known as chaps, distressed, bomber, and suede leather. Leather, when properly maintained, will last four or five times longer than fabric or man-made fibers. Over time, body oils, perspiration, skin acids, and other soils can work their way into the leather. Many cleaning products currently on the market are not appropriate for leather – and they may break down leather finishes, promoting dryness and cracking. EcoDri uses Leather Master (needs registered R) leather care products that are safe and effective for leather. Why Should I Protect My Leather? Oils & grease - Body oils from both humans and animals attach and hold on to leather. Body oils are easily transferred to the head cushions and armrests of the furniture and can cause serious damage to the protective finishes found on leather. Atmospheric soils - Consider the dust that builds up on a coffee table or desk over a week. This same dust is being deposited on your leather. Additionally, consider the airborne cooking oils and atmospheric pollution that are present, to some degree, in every home. These elements can wear down leather over time. Common soils - These soils include dirt tracked in from outside along with sand and fibers from plants, brought into the home by people and pets. Dyes and inks - The inks from newspapers and dyes from denim can be transferred onto leather in a process called dye transfer. Additionally, the risk of ink from a leaky pen or the aspiring toddler who loves to draw should not be forgotten.

How Often Should I Clean My Leather? It is recommended to have professional cleaning twice a year as part of a regular cleaning schedule. Between professional cleanings, you can maintain the health and beauty of your leather furniture by cleaning with a Soft Cleaner and rejuvenating the protection with a Protection Cream.
